We have a progressive and forward thinking approach to restoration work which integrates modern and traditional techniques to ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship. Our focus is on working with sustainable materials. Whilst we cover most aspects of general building work, including working with oak, cob and lime, we have close links with specialist craftsmen who work alongside us where needed. Our aim is to ensure any renovations fit into the surrounding countryside with as little environmental impact as possible.
As part of this sense of 'contextualisation' we try to integrate ourselves with the local community. We aim to support local businesses and suppliers where possible. In the past we have backed the local arts festival where we are official sponsors. We also can be visited at the local agricultural show every year where we run a stand with demonstrations of traditional building methods taking place. We have also donated one of our 'Character built' ecological 'compost loos' to a local charity which runs rural adventures for city children.
Looking forward we are hoping to expand the 'greener' side of our building expertise and have recently completed works installing ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps and wood chips boilers.
We have received national recognition of our work through winning the 'Federation of Master Builders Builder of the Year Competition 2010'. Other awards include the South Devon Business Excellent award in the 'Most innovative company' category. We are also Trading Standards registered as part of the 'Buy with Confidence' scheme.
Our work if often featured in the local press including editorial coverage in Devon Life, Dartmoor Magazine, NFU Countryside Magazine.
